Crowd Barriers Protect the Olympic Flame
A teenager has been arrested by the UK's Metropolitan police for trying to grab the Olympic flame as it made its way across the country.
As the UK prepares for the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic games, the fabled Olympic torch is being passed from one to another across the country carried by lucky torch bearers.
However in the past few days the Olympic torch has been under attack from naked streakers to crazed teenagers trying to grab the ceremonial torch, two circumstances which could have been prevented if crowd barriers had been correctly positioned along streets and roads.
Thankfully for the torch bearers involved and for public safety the police have 70 officers following the torch to protect the torch and it's carrier, however crowd barriers would prove invaluable in preventing such attacks in the first place.
The video below shows a teenager running from the crowds and attempting to take the Olympic torch from the volunteer runner. As you can see there are no barriers or railings to prevent such an attempt!
