Over the years, Sino Concept gained a wide knowledge in the area of hot dip galvanizing. The following article will introduce you to our hot dip galvanizing process.
Hot dip galvanization is the process of adding a protective zinc coat to metal products. The technique involves the immersing of the product in a bath of molten zinc, or a ‘hot dip’. Once this process is completed it provides long-lasting protection against corrosion.
With extensive experience using the hot dip galvanization process, we are able to provide you site furniture, corrosion-free surface for years.
What happens during the hot dip galvanization process?
First the product must be cleaned and prepared for dipping. There are 3 stages during the 'pretreatment'.
After preparation and cleaning, the steel is immersed into a 450°C bath of molten zinc. Fully immersing the product makes sure that every inch of the surface comes into contact with the zinc. The parts are removed slowly from the bath and the excess zinc is allowed to run off.
In the third stage, the treated products are quickly cooled in a water bath to ensure the zinc binds tightly to the surface.
After going through all these steps, the product is now waterproof. After being inspected by our quality controllers, our products can pass on to packing or powder coating stage. All our galvanized products can be powder coated in the RAL or Pantone color of your choice.
Hot dip galvanizing offers distinctive advantages to the products:
Hot dip galvanizing is one of the oldest, most commonly used and effective forms of preventing corrosion on steel products such as our pedestrian guard rails.
However, despite being in use for decades, not all hot dip finishers are capable of providing the type of finish our customer’s desire, indicated by a number of complaints about distortion or warping.
As steel is placed in a vat of molten zinc, which creates the protective finish, it is common for steel sheet to warp. Special measures are needed to solve these problems. The main way to prevent warping is not to use light gauge material or welded/riveted plates because these thin materials can easily distort while cooling.
Also, non-symmetrical sections such as channels with different material thicknesses are prone to changing shape as the cooling time varies depending on the thickness of the piece.
Sino Concept has been working with hot dip galvanized products for years. We fully understand the procedures and have the know-how to avoid potential problems. With Sino Concept, you can outsource your hot-dip galvanizing process.
If you have any concerns about your hot dip galvanized products let Sino Concept help you to engineer your customized designs and prevent distortion and bending. Sino Concept offers hot-dip galvanized surface treatment for all our range of iron and steel products.
